2014 recap

Take four...

It's been a funny old year to be honest and I think this has been the hardest post to write. Ever. Ever ever. And that's because it's been a rather tough year, but I'm working through it. I don't like writing about the really personal negative things in my life here, which maybe seems fake to some people, but I have a counsellor for that.

So, in the spirit of staying positive, I'm going to share my best memories of 2014 with you...

Passing my first year of Biochemistry at Portsmouth with a 2:1! I know it doesn't count towards my degree but I am so proud of myself. I spent sixth form being told by teachers that I would never get into uni to study science, that I should re-take sixth form and forget science and do something else. They didn't care what I wanted, they just cared how the school looked. I'm so glad I ignored them because I can see this is exactly what I'm meant to be doing! Also I know the photo has nothing to do with that, but I didn't know what photo to post haha so I thought my little piggies, Blair and Winter, could say hi! Heehee!

Spending two months of Summer in Portsmouth. After exams I didn't go straight home and some of my friends stayed in Portsmouth for a while too so we made the most of the scorching weather and spent so much time down at the beach. It was also when I last felt at peace, just before things started to get difficult so they are special memories to me.

Going on holiday with my family to Gran Canaria in April! I'd been to Fuerteventura before but this was our first time to Gran Canaria. It's so lovely, nothing bad to say about it really!

Going to Birmingham for the first time in April, and then four more times this year to stay with my best friend. I looove Birmingham now, obviously! I have managed to squeeze in so many visits this year haha! I know I wouldn't go as much if my friend didn't live there, but I'm glad he does live there 'cos Birmingham is awesome! I also went to Nottingham for the first time to visit another friend who goes to uni there, I didn't see much of the city, but I had a lovely time.

Isle of Wight festival! I hadn't been to a festival since Reading 2012, which I enjoyed, but after going to Isle of Wight I will never be returning to Reading festival! IoW is so friendly and fun, all the people there were lovely, we even made some new friends who we've stayed in contact with! It was also one of the hottest weekends of the year which made it feel like a mini holiday!

I started my second year of Biochemistry and so far I am loving it, so so much! I chose a French module too as being fluent in French has always been one of my life goals, it's taking me a long time but hopefully staying in France for a couple of months next year will really help. The work this year is hard but I don't even mind I love it so much, I get so excited at the new things I am learning and just wish I could share it with everyone!

Apart from these individual memories, I've also met lots of new people this year! So so many! Most are all so interesting and I have learnt lots from each of them. I'm so happy I've made some really good friends and I can't wait to make more memories with them. It's been a tough year but I'm proud of all the things I've achieved. Here's to 2015 bringing more of the same!

If you've done one of these posts don't hesitate to link to it in the comments, if I follow your blog I'll be reading yours anyway! I like seeing what people include as important moments from the year in these posts. I've also loved blogging even more in 2014 and I wrote a separate post summarising the year here if you missed that. Peace xo

  2. Aw lots of positive things on here, I always think it is nice to reflect back on the positives, as they sometimes seem easy to forget. Uni sounds fab, I love biochem and I am glad it is going well for well! I hope you have a lovely 2015 xx

  4. All the best for 2015. It's always good to prove your school wrong - I did the same with my A Level results when they had basically written me off, even if you never say it to them directly, it leaves a nice feeling inside!

  6. It'd be all too easy to just remember how hard the year has been but it seems to have made the few good memories stick out even more :) xo

  8. I hope 2015 has as many happy memories as 2014! School is strange, they also thought I wouldn't amount to anything, but hey ho! here we are now! Life is funny like that :)
