How I (try) to get rid of spots and blackheads...

Bad skin? Spots? Blackheads? Want to get rid of them? Sorry for the cheesy start....
As a young teen I never got spots or bad skin of any kind, I had lovely skin. Unfortunately karma has caught up with me the last few months and she's a bitch. I have dry, flaky skin and nasty red painful spots and loads of dirty little blackheads, I even have a random scar with no recollection of how I got it. So I've been manically covering them up, squeezing them and putting every product under the sun all over my face. Bad. Very bad idea. So I thought hope was lost and I was destined to have horrible spotty teenage skin forever until lo and behold a remedy appeared in the form of my boyfriend's spot cream! He has perfect skin (damn him) and he claimed that this spot cream was the reason. I was totally skeptical as I always am of skin care products claiming this and that (studying science makes you question everything) but I was willing to try anything, especially as le boyfriend was pointing out these spots to me!

I started using it every morning and night but it still wasn't really doing the trick which I told him and he said to me to reapply every four hours. This would be blatantly ignoring what the packaging advises (once in the morning, once in the afternoon) but I did what he said and reapplied every four hours only today and oh my stars my skin is looking so much better! It's still a bit dry and flaky but the spots are clear!

There is one more difference I have made to my facial skin care routine which is to stop piling on the products, including my simple cleanser that I have always used. I read online about natural remedies, one of them being the OCM, the oil cleansing method, which involves massaging your face with oil to get rid of black heads, this is supposed to work because like dissolves like and obviously black heads are oily dirt stuck in open pores so by massaging oil onto your skin the bad oil dissolves into it and it all washes away after. Light oils such as sunflower oil are recommended but only having olive oil in the house I decided that would have to do. I also decided I didn't want to just rub oil all over my face and I still needed a face scrub so I added your bog standard sugar to some olive oil and a little bit of manuka honey and mixed it all together. I've been using that every other day, once a day and the rest of the time just washing my face with water. The only product I've been using is simple eye make up remover.

It took my skin a few days to get used to this treatment but it has really worked and my skin is looking so much better! My black heads are going as well as the spots! So in short - stop using products, make a home made scrub of oil and sugar and use once a day or every other day and the rest of the time just wash with water and use this spot cream on ugly red spots. Boom. Sexy skin in three days.

I know this is a lengthy post but I have been so happy with the improvement in my skin I wanted to share it with you! Also don't forget to enter my giveaway here!

Edit: Ok so I actually wrote this post over a week ago and there's a teeny update. The clearasil really dries out your skin so after clearing up the spots I used a really creamy moisturizer. Just thought I should clear that up (haha good pun...).

  1. I get an odd breakout every now and then which sometimes scar, so this product would be ideal for those moments! (They always seem to be when I least want them to appear!)
